This course provides hands-on system sales and estimating instruction for people seeking employment in the solar industry, as well as companies that want to grow or establish in-house sales team.

Note: Course #700 is designed for students with prior solar PV knowledge or experience. If you do not have any prior solar PV knowledge or experience and want to take this course, you need to enroll in our
four day program which combines Course #300 Intro to PV Design and Installation and Course #700 Solar Sales and Estimation. Please call for details.


This course provides instruction on Site Survey, the key step in accurately sizing a PV system for estimating purposes, and the sales process for the solar industry; methods for pricing a system, utility rates and incentives and how they affect system size, cost, and payback, methods of system payback and how to present a compelling value proposition to a solar buyer. In addition, they will learn about effective solar PV marketing techniques and resources, financing for solar projects, and customer segmentation.

  • PV overview including equipment, electric grid, components, cells inverters and arrays
  • Solar site measurement using solar access and shade analysis tools
  • Site Survey for locating Solar PV Components and Equipment
  • Evaluation of existing electrical system for solar installation
  • Evaluation of existing roof condition for solar installation

  • Sales process – from lead to closing the sale

  • Financial analysis - ROI - Case studies, solar investments and payback
  • Lifecycle payback – equipment, rates, tiers, rebates, incentives, feed-in tariffs, EPBBs
  • Financing solar – types including leases, loans, government financing, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA)
  • Resources and tools – proposal tools, business planning and lead generation
This course is a must for contractors that are selling and installing solar PV systems, and salespeople who want to transition into the lucrative and growing solar industry.
